Self-mixing ‘26 is an interactive installation that explores observation as a recursive process. Using thermal sensing, the system continuously translates human presence into laser movement while rendering the laser's electrical current directly as sound. Rather than simply responding to visitors, it incorporates their presence into its own behaviour. As the laser tracks the body, the body simultaneously adapts to the laser, generating a feedback loop in which neither human nor system remains a fixed observer. Measurement no longer functions as a neutral act of detection, but continuously reshapes the relation between sensing and being sensed.
